Abstract

Background & Objective: Major management decisions in organizations not only in the present but also in the future have a profound impact on different aspects of the organization. A slight mistake in making decisions may lead to the loss of resources of the organization, including financial and human resources. In the present study, we evaluated the problem of choosing the most convenient location for the construction of hospitals and health centers as one of the most important issues in the field of health. Regarding the numerous factors in decision making and the myriad of possible solutions to this problem and also disability of human in solving such problems, a genetic optimization algorithm has been used to calculate the best location for the construction of hospitals.
Methods: This study was simulated according to the actual conditions which may exist in a city. Given the existence of a city with N × N dimensions and having several hospitals and health centers in the city, the issue was raised for the construction of three hospitals. Important factors which could influence the decision making were health status, referring times and land prices. Furthermore, the most proper locations for the construction of three hospitals were calculated using the genetic algorithm.
Results: Three characteristics including the level of health, referring times and land prices were randomly assigned to all urban areas. The coordinates of available health centers in the city were also identified. Another point was the lack of proximity of hospitals in the city. Setting the threshold of 0.2 units for the minimum distance between hospitals (current and new), this restriction was applied. After performing the algorithm with the governing conditions, three optimal points were found.
Conclusion: Considering the importance of locations for the construction of hospitals and health centers in the city and the existence of various factors for selecting the most appropriate place, application of strategies and algorithms which may be helpful in finding the best solution among the myriad of solutions in inevitable. According to the fact that human beings alone or by simple mathematical methods are not capable of taking all the features together and examine the search space to find the best result, we achieved the best solution in the city by setting the parameters of the genetic algorithm and taking into account all important factors.

Abstract

Backgrounds and Objectives: Afew large population-based studies have been conducted on the prevalence of oral mucosal lesions in relation to fertility status in the Iranian population. The aim of study was determine the prevalence of oral mucosal lesions in relation to fertility status in women participants of Shahedieh cohort study.
Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 4935 women who participated in the Shahedieh cohort study. The age range of participants was 35-71 years with a mean age of 47.12 years. The prevalence of oral mucosal lesions considering fertility variables including pregnancy, number of pregnancy, oophorectomy, tubectomy, hysterectomy, infertility, menopause, normal menopause, and abortion, application of infertility and oral contraceptive drugs and hormone replacement therapy were recorded.
Results: The total prevalence of oral mucosal lesions in the studied women were 3.8%. The most commonly affected age group was 40-49 years, followed by 30-39, 50-59 and 60-71 years, respectively. Considering the fertility variables, only menopause (P=0.047) and normal menopause (P=0.024) significantly related to the prevalence of oral mucosal lesions.
Conclusions: The findings of the present study provide information on the prevalence of the oral mucosal lesions considering fertility status in a large population-based study in Iran. With due attention to the higher prevalence of oral mucosal lesions in menopause women, an improved comprehension of oral manifestations at menopause and preventive and treatment approaches during this period should be programmed with health care services to meet the needs of patients deservingly.

Abstract

Background and Objective: Human development is influenced by genetic, environmental, and social factors whose foundation is formed from infancy and childhood. Preterm birth and low birth weight are important issues that can affect the development and threaten the public health.
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of early exercise interventions on gross motor skills of children with preterm birth aged 3 to 6 years.
Material and Methods: In this Experimental study, 30 children with average (2066 ±354g) were selected from among the preterm infants (32 to 37 weeks less than 2500 g) admitted to NICU ward. They were divided into two groups (experimental group n=15 and control group n=15 children). To evaluate the gross motor skills of children, the second version of the Peabody developmental motor scale was used. The results were analyzed by SPSS using ANCOVA test (p≤0.05).
ResultsThe results of this study showed that early interventions can have a positive effect on the gross motor skills of these children and the participants in the experimental group were able to obtain higher scores than the control group after participating in the training program.
Conclusion: The results showed that training interventions have a significant effect on both stability and locomotion skills.
